The Letter “Z” Will Be Removed from the English Alphabet

Surprising as it sounds, it looks like the English alphabet will be losing one of its letters on *June 1st*. The announcement came from the *English Language Central Commission (ELCC)*.
Here is a quote from the press release:
After carefully considering and debating the matter for over two years, the ELCC came to the conclusion that the letter “Z” should be removed from the English alphabet. The main objective of this change is to simplify the phonetic aspect of the language, and to unify the American and British spellings.
What will happen to the words that have the letter “z” in them? It depends on the word. According to the ELCC, words that started with a “z” will now start with an “x”. Examples include:
Salim-Sulaiman Part of FIFA World Cup
Although the Indian football team may not be a part of the game’s biggest carnival, there is something to look forward for the Indian fans at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup. Salim-Sulaiman, after being the first Indian musicians to be nominated for an Emmy Award are now set to make another record. The corporate body associated with FIFA recently approached the music composer duo to compose a song for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be held in South Africa in June.
Since the corporate body is made up of mainly Indians, they wanted Salim-Sulaiman to score a sports anthem similar to Chak De India. The composers have scored music for a number of popular Bollywood films like Fashion, Kurbaan, Chak De India, and so on.
Rising Sons Of The Indian Music World
After being the first Indian musicians to be nominated for an Emmy Award, for outstanding original song in the children and animation category for the animation show, The Wonder Pets, Salim-Sulaiman have another laurel in store. The duo was recently approached by a corporate body associated with FIFA, to compose a song for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, to be held in South Africa in June. Salim has learned music from the Trinity School of Music in London. Sulaiman has learnt to play the drums and piano from different teachers and he is also self-taught. The two brothers also conduct courses for musicians and sound engineers at School of Audio Engineering, which has branches across the country.
In the past, Salim-Sulaiman had composed the popular track ‘Chak De! India’ which had almost become like an anthem while the T20 matches were on. The two composers seemed visibly ecstatic with the honour to compose anthem for FIFA.

Oscar Winning Film Maker Satyajit Ray
Oscar-winning film maker Satyajit Ray rose to international fame for his epoch making movie 'Pather Panchali'.
The tourism ministry will priortise the Rs.50 crore Satyajit Ray Trail project to develop the sites of his famous films shot in West Bengal as tourist attractions. Under the project, the West Bengal government has proposed to recreate the scenes of some films shot at different locations with brief descriptions of the script and narration of some important events during the film shooting. Illumination of the shooting spots, landscaping, a tourist interpretation centre and building accommodation facilities are also part of the proposed project.
Sports and Bollywood a perfect combination
Apart from sports or sports element forming the integral part of storyline of Bollywood’s script, Hindi film Industry has been abuzz with rumor of love affairs between Bollywood star and Sports persons. The ongoing Indian Premier League ( IPL) has also Bollywood connections with Hindi film stars such as Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty and Shahrukh Khan associated with Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knightriders respectively.
There have been various sports films made in the Hindi Film Industry. The best known Hindi films based on sports are Lagaan and Chak de India. Lagaan which was directed by Ashutosh Gawaskar had cricket as its central theme.
Another film which caught the attention of audiences was Chak De India. The film directed by Shimit Amin is based on Hockey, India’s national sport and is the story of a Hockey Coach played by SRK who returns to coach a girl’s hockey team to make it the world champions and win his reputation back.
Indian Football News : The Third Season Of I-League
The third season of the I-League ended on Friday with Sporting Clube de Goa and Shillong Lajong FC having to go down after the longest national league season ever in Indian football. For the first ever clubs had to play 26 matches across the season and what an interesting season it has been.
If Sporting Clube de Goa had stayed up it would have been the greatest escape in Indian football then at one stage the club was more then 10 points behind a non-relegation spot, but a rally in the second half of the season under new (old) coach Vishwas Gaonkar saw the team only finish one point behind that 12th spot, which would have meant I-League football for the Goans next season. Until a stage last season Sporting Clube were challenging for the title now they go down and one will have to see if and how the club regroups.
We look forward to the I-League 2010/11 season when Mumbai’s ONGC and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited from Bangalore take the places of the two clubs, while the India Under-21 boys will replace the closed down Mahindra United. The league remains 14 teams strong and the planned expansion to 16 teams has been put off by a year.

Aamir first acted at the age of eight in his uncle Nasir Hussain's film, Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973). He played the younger Ratan, while the older version was played by his cousin, Tariq.
Hrithik debuted with Aap Ke Deewane Hai when he was six. The film starred his father Rakesh Roshan.
Sanjay acted at the age of 12 in his father Sunil Dutt's directorial venture, Reshma Aur Shera. But this was coincidental, as he just happened to be on the sets when a qawwali song was being picturised, and his father asked him to join in.
Urmila had a tiny role in the Marathi film, Zaakol. She did her second film, Kalyug, when she was only six.

A-Rated Movies : The Censor Board of Film Certification
A-rated movies are those cleared by the Censor Board of Film Certification for viewing by people of age 18 and above. They are marked A because of sexual and violent content and explicit language. U-rated movies, on the other hand, are those that can be viewed by the entire family, including kids. UA-rated movies can be seen under parental guidance. "So it does come as a surprise that Bollywood, which supposedly provides wholesome entertainment for the entire family, has released the largest number of adult movies," RTI activist Chetan Kothari, who sourced the information, said.
The only three other industries that released a double-digit number of adult films were Tamil (37), Kannada (21) and Malayalam (13). But they, too, had a greater percentage of movies that could be viewed by the whole family.
Critically acclaimed film-makers like Vishal Bhardwaj, whose recently released movie 'Kaminey' got an A certificate, feels the number of A movies in Bollywood is on the rise because the rating system has not kept up with changing societal values and mores.
